Chester Races are a great sporting and social event. Chester Racecourse is right in the heart of the city – in fact, the land it’s on used to be the harbour in Roman times! You can still see where the boats used to tie up below the city walls.

A day at the races provides the perfect day out; the highest quality of racing, the chance to spot local celebs, an opportunity to dress to impress and the unique Chester atmosphere all add up to an experience not to be missed. The city’s restaurants and bars are just a walk away when the races are over – so whether you’re spending your winnings or finding consolation, you’re bound to find somewhere to suit your mood!
The course is quite short – just over a mile – and is run anticlockwise. The short finishing straight sometimes upsets the form book – so make sure you do your research before you place your bets!
